Walnut Hulls, Chopped – 1kg
Walnut Hulls, Chopped – 1kg
Walnut hulls are perfect for dyeing beautiful brown shades. You don’t need to mordant the wool beforehand, as the hulls naturally have a mordanting effect. However, if you want deeper, more intense colors, it’s recommended to pre-mordant the wool with something like alum.
Madder belongs to the granth teint/category 1 class of dyes, meaning that the color it produces is a true pigment that doesn’t fade easily. It’s a dye known for maintaining its vibrancy and intensity over time.
How to Use:
Mordanting: Mordant the wool with alum for a more intense and long-lasting color.
Dyeing Process: Soak the dried materials 24 hours in advance before adding them to the dye bath. For the darkes and most intense colors, use 100 gram per 100 gram wool.
Reusing the Dye Bath: After the first dye bath, you can reuse it 1 to 2 more times for lighter shades. The more times the bath is used, the lighter the final color will be.
Tips:
The intensity of the color can vary depending on the pH and hardness of the water in the dye bath.
Keep in mind that, as with all natural dyes, final color results can vary depending on the type of wool, the mordant used, and other factors such as water quality and temperature.
